Post-Experiment State Launch a parallel project (Project, Parallel Projects), and click on the Open a new Project command. Repeat the above steps, initially initially selecting (Designs, Post Experiment State) under the Hypothetical Experimental Designs heading. Add two more steps. During the first step select (Transfers, Descriptors to the scalar module) and select Arithmetic Means of Y0 and Y1 variables. During the second step select (Transfers, Scalars to a variable). Click on the 'Scalars' variable name and rename this variable as 'Means.' On your computer screen will float four windows with two instances of the Visual Statistics Studio, displaying results of pre- and post- states of this hypothetical experiment, as shown above.
Note that variances of the predicted Y' (.250) and error Y^ variables (.667) add to variances of the variable Y (.917), that the variance of the predicted scores Y' (.250) equals to the variance between the means (.250) and that the variance of the error scores Y^ (.667) is the weighted variance of the variables Y0 (.667) and Y1+Exp (.667).
Click on Descriptive Statistics and select (Standard Variance, Standardizing Variable Y), adding the bottom line to the vector display as

Compare Standard Variance Components of Variable Y (1.000), Variable Y' (.273) and Variable Y^ (.273) on the vector display with the Total (1.000), Between Means (.273) and Residual (.727) Standard Variance Components on the above panel.
