Holocene Calendar
The dates are frequently given by using the scientific
Holocene calendar, as the human civilization dates entirely to the Holocene
(Gr. holos whole, entire, + kainos > caeno > cene , new, recent; i.e., entirely recent) epoch
that extends from the present to the past by about 10,000 radiocarbon years. The
Holocene calendar sets the start of the current era to 10,000 BCE and dates in
human history can then be listed using increasing date scale with
smaller dates always occurring before larger dates. Thus
